During my employment at the City of Ventura, I created the identity
for the 47th annual 4th of July Street Fair and Pushem-Pullem
Parade. The Parks [&] Recreation team had the idea to focus on the new "bubble zone" for the
kids, that was a big hit the previous year. Aesthetically, the team
desired a funky Americana style with a simple color palette and
elements that could be shifted around for multiple outputs,
to differ from previous years with only having one poster graphic for all
outputs.
This design is almost fully illustrated and hand lettered as a call back to the organic hand-lettered posters of the 60's and 70's. The star bubble is the "star" of the design, being the prominent element across all project materials!
