Galería de la Raza is a space dedicated to showcasing Xicane and
Latine art and culture. It utilizes community arts and programs for
youth of color to navigate issues of social inequality, urban
development, affordable housing, and preserving the cultural legacy
of communities of color.
I first began my work with Galería de la Raza in 2019 as part of my
internship at TBD* with CCA. Through this internship I partnered
with fellow intern, Vrinda Gangwal, to create the new brand identity
for Galería. This new identity was to reflect the organizations
current mission as a cultural hub thats focus has expanded to
include advocacy and policy in their work as well as building on their existing platform for Latine artists in San Francisco. As Galería moved into this current
focus, they highlighted the Indigenous idea of the "Seven
Generations", which considers the impact of our decisions for the
next 7 generations of life, which inspired the final brand design.
In 2020, I was offered a position as the Graphic Designer at Galería
de la Raza, where I continued my work with them developing the
structure of furthering this mission while navigating the COVID-19
pandemic closures. From then until 2025, I worked on various projects and campaigns with Galería de la Raza, that can be viewed below.
